History of Mexico City

Today and yesterday at LTL I read about the history of Mexico City. A long time ago the race who founded the city were called the Aztecs. They originally built the city on an island in the middle of the lake. The builders wanted to build it there because if anyone invades their town they could get enough time to get ready for battle. Before the spanish took over the city the Aztecs built beautiful stone buildings such as temples, government offices, palaces, and their streets were very organised. Before the Spanish took over the city the Aztecs was a very successful empire they conquered three neighbouring countries. The Aztecs did not rely on other countries for food and resources so they built a irrigation system which is a planting system and a watering system on the lake and the city was not polluted at all.  This was all until a bad person named Hernan Cortes decided to take over the city and claim it as his own then he brought his Spanish army to take over the city. Unfortunately they won so they polluted and destroyed the first Mexico City and replaced the Aztec buildings with Spanish buildings. Eventually the Aztecs died off by the deseases the Spanish brought over such as measles. Now Mexico city is one of the most polluted and dirty citys in the world.
